There is never a kitchen I organize where food storage isn’t an issue! Let’s talk about how to make this common kitchen problem more manageable.

A comment I get a lot from people is, “You’re a professional organizer, so I bet your house is perfect all the time.” My answer is always the same: “No, it’s not perfect, because human beings and one cute dog live there. No house can be perfect unless you don’t actually live there, or unless you have a lot of professional help and are rich.”

The number of cardboard boxes and other things that fill client homes sometimes accounts for a huge amount of what they think is an insurmountable clutter problem. When we do this sweep just of empty boxes, and break them down—a lot of times what looked like a terrible clutter problem, suddenly becomes a lot more manageable.

I was a total disaster of disorganization for decades. There are a lot of reasons for this, none of which I will bore you to tears with. But--I didn't suddenly figure out how to become organized and my house didn't transform without changing a LOT of behaviors and ingrained habits.

When we were going through our 2018 full purge of our house, and I was following the KonMari Method® very faithfully--I thought going through books was going to be challenging. I was like, EVERY SINGLE BOOK SPARKS JOY—and there is no way I can say goodbye to any of these books, I’m sure I’ll keep all of them.

We knew it was coming, of course - kids grow up and leave the nest - but we didn’t realize what a profound impact it would have on us when it finally happened. Everything felt strange: the dining room table without my daughter at her laptop, surrounded by books and snacks, the sport court oddly silent, without my son shooting free throw after free throw

Even if you get paid a salary—you STILL have an hourly rate. I really recommend that you spend the three minutes to calculate it and start thinking about purchases through that lens.

I am so fortunate that when I started this little organizing business, I have had clients that turned into friends.
